The fascination with glutes

The posterior chain; and arguably the main feature of it, the glutes, are impressive in more way than one.
Whether you’re squeezing them into a pair of skinny jeans, shaking them on the dance floor, or using them to power your workouts, they’re diverse to say the least.
One of the largest muscle groups in your body, when you engage them, they torch serious calories (all hail the squat!)
Modern day culture has seen many people pay for treatments to achieve a larger behind, but your glutes are actually one of the parts of your body you can make bigger with some good old fashioned hard work.
And you’re always using them. Whether you’re walking up the stairs to bed after a long day, or simply standing upright in the queue at Sainsbury’s, your glutes are the powerhouse, they help you to move and also help to keep your balance.
And last but not least, they’re your very own team! What do we mean by that? The gluteus maximus, gluteus medius and gluteus minimus work as a team to help you function and move, whether you’re running for the bus or striking a football like you’re in the World Cup semi-final; and the captain of your team is the maximus, this is the one which determines the shape of your behind, and is supported by the other two.
